Bro Major Ernest Ongley Tagart was an Old Cliftonian, playing in the XI (second from the right, standing, above) who joined the Lodge in November 1899.
Tagart was a Middlesex Volunteer Rifle Corps officer who volunteered for service in South Africa with the CIV. He served with 35th Coy, 11th Bttn, Imperial Yeomanry.
He would go on to command the 3/13th Battalion of the London Regiment in the Great War.
